Chicken or a Duck?

This is a duck :

This is a chicken:

Now that I have successfully defined two very recognizable animals let me explain.  Kevin has decided that he wants a pet duck or a pet chicken. YES! A DUCK OR A CHICKEN!! Now, we live in a townhouse ( a very nice house, I love it) but our backyard is just about as big as this post.
Here are the two scenerios:
1. DUCK: This poor duck would live in a 9 sf kiddie pool in our backyard. He wouldn't be allowed inside because I am not cleaning up bird poop.  Sorry there is just NO compromising on the bird poop thing.  With that said, Kevin thinks he can potty train this young duckling.  This sounded like an interesting endeavor so I googled it.  This is what I found:
Q: Can a duck be potty trained?
A: No, ducks do not have the physical anatomy required (a sphincter muscle), so they can't "hold it" until they reach a litter box or designated area. You can, however observe their patterns and learn when they do most of their pooping and schedule their indoor visits around that time. Or you can diaper a duck using a variety of materials, including baggies, Preemie disposable diapers, or a diaper harness, custom made by Nancy Townsend. See her website for pricing and ordering information.

HA HA HA! Didn't know you could order a Diaper for a duck?! Sorry Kevin, I don't think duck diapers are in the budget.

2. CHICKEN: Chickens smell! That is all I should have to say.  Where would this chicken live?  That is a great question!! In a cage in the backyard.  GREAT! I wish I could live in a cage in the backyard, NOT!  He would have a little space to run around but that's about it.  I, personally, do not want to have to walk past a chicken everytime I go outside.  Kevin thinks chickens are fun to hold.  Sharp claws, a beak and dirty feathers don't seem cuddley to me, but I am wrong a lot of the time.  Again we come to the infamous question of; Can a chicken be potty trained?
Well incase you didn't read the above, they sell CHICKEN DIAPERS! No, a chicken can not be potty trained, but you can change a diaper????

(Just incase you are in need of a duck diaper or chicken for that matter, please visit www.diapersforbirds.com)

With all of that said, I said NO.  Kevin is still trying to convince me that a chicken or a duck is necessary.  I don't think a poll is really needed but feel free to leave your comments.

Vuvvy has lost it! When you go out of town who are you going to find to 'duck' sit? Just thinking ahead. I can just hear the neighbor complaints...your quacking kept me up all night. Do you take this thing on walks? I can just see you two walking a duck/chicken on a leash through the park. When it pees on the carpet, do you rub it's beak in it? I'm sorry, I'm just having too much fun with this. Much love Kev.

Oh my heck I'm am laughing my butt off!! Kevin you are hilarious! Oh how I wish I could be a fly on the wall when this conversation was taking place. I just have to say I agree with Ash on this one. At least wait till you have a little more of a yard for the chicken/duck. Love you!!

My neighbors have chickens and they had ducks, ducks smell worse than chickens. Still I don't think I would ever have an indoor bird pet, ever. That is just me. Ever think of a bunny??

I love ducks and if I ever have enough land to have a lake, I'll definitely have ducks. Never indoors, though. My vote is for a duck.

When Peggy and I lived in Japan we had a house rabbit named Fletcher. He was easily litterbox trained and didn't stink near as much as the cat's foul butt. I loved him very much and we shared many mornings watching T.V. together and eating Doritos... Toasted Corn flavor was our favorite. He was a special friend and I miss that little bugger. Okay, I'm starting to well up now. One word of warning though...they chew stuff up, especially electrical cords so some bunny-proofing will be in order and you'll need to kennel a bunny when you're away.

I change my vote to bunny. Yep, bunnies are awesome.

We had chickens and ducks when I was a kid. I loved ducks, but if you had about four chickens you could have your own eggs. However, NEVER had a duck or a chicken in the house! You two are FUNNY and it was GREAT to see you this week!
